I quote this a lot, Mr. Dyer, because it really cuts through so much of the nonsense through which we wade right now. I was and continue to be deeply fortunate to have had my world populated by extraordinary Black people, thanks to parents who were a bit different for their time, and I have been particularly fortunate this year to befriend a few folks on Medium (not just via Internet, but in person and to the point were we are partnering to work together).

One reason I write a lot about aging is because there is a whole 'nuther kind of beauty that comes with what my friend Dr. Rosenna Bakari (she's on Medium, I love her work) refers to as our goddessness. That of course is as available to men as it is to women, but we don't rise into it when we have the hooks of hate and ignorace in our hems.
