I am one of those writers relegated to Medium hell for barking at the platform. Like you, Jeff, I have been on the platform for three years, and poured my heart into it. A year ago I was doing well, this year I got eviscerated along with many others. I have been very vocal, written Medium repeatedly, crickets. I’m a triple prize winning author, so I know what the fuck about producing good material. But Medium is no longer what it was. I have downloaded my stories, and along with many others, slowly but surely making a steady exit. I will not support a system which by their design this year has become as much of a failed state as our democracy in America. You don’t rip off your writers, then refuse to protect them from copyright thieves, and then willfully refuse to engage when criticized or challenged.

Medium isn’t worth our investment any more. The best writers are picking up their marbles and moving. I just signed my first contract last night, and there will be more.

If a company’s response to legitimate criticism is to punish you, how does that make Medium any different from Trump?

Precisely.
