I agree that they should be addressed. However, and this is the piece that causes real pain, to put this into the ether at holiday time for so many, with survivors forced to sit with or near their violators in a families who have more interest in protecting the violator than healing those violated, discussing this during the holidays smacks of insensitivity. If you have never had it happen, then you can't be aware of the increased danger for and damage to those who have to deal with the lies of the family members. It's another layer of offense. Holidays exacerbate those times. I agree that a thoughtful discussion is in order. But timing, Liam, timing. Far too many are getting violated under the cover of Covid quaratine and they have nowhere to go. Timing. Consider the conditions we are in, consider the conditions those people must juggle to survive. All the worst of humanity is happening right now because of the pandemic. There's a time to discuss such things. Indeed. Not under quarantine, and most definitely, not during holidays, in winter, where there is simply no escape. Discussions like this are triggers both for the predator and the survivor. However, that is just me, for what it's worth. My family is long gone, but for many, that's not the case. That's all. Consider the potential impace, for evil really does thrive behind closed doors.
