Good morning April. I am not entirely sure I know your meaning here, but I will do my best to respond intelligently. My primary thought here is that so many writers suck the life out of Medium by expecting others to read them, highlight and link to them, and make them money without making the community investment. It is my intention to emphasize that we offer first what we want from others.
For my part, the only reason I am writing so much right now is that I can't engage in my living, which is adventure travel. As soon as I am vaccinated and planes are flying I am out the door and in life. I am not a fan of immersing ourselves in nothing but writing because, after a while, April, there's nothing to write about if we're not living. So if I understand your comment, and I may not, I guess what balances this is that writing for its own sake is not the point. We write because it serves our purpose, it's who we are, not because we're trying to use others solely for money. Which so very many Medium writers are trying to do.
