For a lot of reasons Leon Talley comes to mind. I am beyond understanding why he subjected himself to the abuse he tolerated at Vogue and in the fashion industry, but that was his choice to continue, ever knowing that the industry eats its young. And that's the white folks. You cannot force acceptance., and there were times I felt he had turned himself into a circus performer at the cost of his dignity. I loved his writing, he was brilliant, but at what cost.
