Drew,
As a female vet myself, I’m troubled by the theme of your story, as though- whether you intend it or not- the woman should have been let off after breaking the law. My take, for what it’s worth, is choose a point to make. If you’re irritated that she got lectured for driving her “husband’s car” that’s one story line, and one that I have been subjected to for years. I get that. But that story line clashes with the implication that she should be given a free pass for breaking the law. Pick one. You break the law you pay the price. But the larger story here and the one that has legs is that people disregard us females as vets- at all ages. I still get called Mr. Hubbel at the VA after forty plus years. Last I checked I had tits and a vagina. It’s annoying and insulting. And I get barked at for receiving bennies reserved for vets by people who assume that I am not one. THAT is a legitimate story. The ticket has nothing to do with anything. The uniform doesn’t get you off the hook.
