Dr. Robert ustig's most recent book, Metabolical, makes a clear but succinct point. It's not the food itself, but what we do to it before we ingest it. His argument, and I wholly agree, that ultraprocessed foods are toxic. To your point. I used to love almond milk until some lawsuits uncovered the truth: it's sugar water. Plain and simple. No wonder I liked it so much. Lustig also stated rather baldly and not without damned good reason that whatever bullshit is printed on that packaging (non fat organic blah blah) you can assure yourself is, indeed bullshit.
