David, it is a dangerous things these days for a White woman to weigh in on discussions of race, for far too many of my White sisters can't stop centering themselves when it isn't THEIR story. However, because of how I was raised and who raised me, I have far more skin in the game than most, forgive the pun. I spent lots of time in supplier diversity, and consulting big corporations. A dear friend of mine is now the C-suite DEI guy at a multi multi billion dollar company. I am not sure it's the right place; he went there from a place where he absolutely had the CEOs ear AND a budget to match. I am watching. I am forever disheartened. If you want change, you have to put money and effort and public goddamned commitment behind the pretty words. I'll fire you a DM with an article that might put things into perspective; I won't insult your thread by linking publicly. This was a smart piece, David. A good read. As with all good reads, really good ones (like reading MarleyK) pithy truths force consideration, thought, and challenge our beliefs. It doesn't matter if we don't like it. What matters is whether we are willing to publicly stand for what is right, not just White.
