Committed Or Consistent? We’re Too Old To Be Whiplashed
Which one is costing your peace of mind?
Is one better than the other?
This was a question that my dear friend JC and I were discussing as he drove to work. I was sitting in the open area of the Portland Airport with hours to spare, having spent the night on his couch.
I was on my way to Anchorage, another adventure in the making.
The results of that lively discussion, to be continued, are worthy, I think, of your consideration. We were discussing, among other things, body image, fitness and weight loss.
I threw in aging. He’s 44. He’s not yet dealing with the way Nature often deals with our aging bodies, especially past sixty.
Namely, handing men brand-new boobs and giving us women the outdoor rugs in their nostrils, for starters.
Or moving fat around to neighborhoods where our attitude is, without question, NIMBY (Not in My Back Yard). But it moves in anyway, and there go the belt holes.
Mother Nature certainly has a sense of humor.
As a society, faced with fast-moving changes, we can crave consistency. We want (but don’t get) consistency in ourselves, our relationships, the companies we buy products from, the Federal…
