Charming and lovely. Right up my alley. While I chose last year to move to Oregon, a place I have always loved, I didn’t bring the conceit that such a move would make me happier. I like my yard better, being closer to the ocean, but what bubbles up from inside me constitutes my values, my values create community, and community can create great joy. That to me is your point. It’s not Oregon’s job to serve my needs, it’s my job to fit into Oregon. So it goes everywhere. Which is why expat communities which bitch about what they do t have compared to “back home" elicit snorts of derision. Go home, if you miss it that much.
