Cathy, I moved here in 1971. I know whereof you speak. Back then the legislature in all its wisdom resisted every effort to put in a light rail system, which would have, back then, cost millions, not billions. Heads in dark places, shall we say. I’m with you. I live in a lovely part of the city but the pressure of population growth has increasingly invade my space. As we all look at and decry what pop growth has done to those places we treasure, by the fact of our moving, we do the same to other places. The inevitability of it saddens me no end. Again, I don’t have answers. I wouldn’t want this to become a Singapore which is tightly regulated and controlled. But I so dearly wish people would have a modicum of common sense, respect what we have, and be at least moderately invested in protecting what little there is of wild nature left to enjoy.
