Caroline, while I understand your points, there is no moralizing or shaming implied or intended. Not in the slightest. If you hear it, that doesn’t arise from my work. That arises from within. Most of my articles on fitness and body image speak to this very thing. Since you clearly get the message in the body of the article, then I have to gently challenge why you don’t also understand that the same message is in the title. Nothing in the title says Shame on you. Nothing in the title is damning….unless the reader chooses to interpret it that way. I have no control over that. The title stands as written. Where someone else’s work brings up something in me is where I get to look at where I carry something…and again since you very much got the point of the article as intended, then the question of why you hear a different message in the title is not a question for me but for you. We’re all on the journey of body acceptance, just as all relationships are a relationship with ourselves. Your reaction has nothing to do with this author, and everything to do with yourself. Not blame. Just fact. It’s true for us all.
