Brenda,
I enjoyed the article, and at the same time, I heartily disagree, but I can only speak for myself. As an aging adventure traveler myself, I wouldn’t dream in a million years of taking anyone with me. This speaks to our individuality, our uniqueness, and our varying points of view, and who we are as travelers. Having someone else come along (and granted please I enjoyed the humor in your piece) would drive me BATTY. We are each of us differently moved and motivated, and unlike you I’ve spent most of my adult life solo. As a writer, people can get in the way of my ability to find and write stories, and their preferences are rarely in line with my own. So while yes, I get your point, and the value of that partner, not on your life.Have fun out there. I am in my final two weeks of five in Kenya and Tanzania, doing all manner of insanely epic things, which is my wont. Show me the old man who can keep up and I might let him carry one of my notebooks. :-)
