Brave writers do their research. You didn't. If you wanted to bring about conscious change you would attack such blatant and ignorant ageism head on. Instead you underscored it. Do the bloody research. There isn't anything brave about maligning your own sister for living out loud. This is foul writing indeed, written by someone too lazy to do the actual research about healthy aging. OH how people LOVE to write about things they haven't lived, know nothing about first hand. Met a few eighty-somethings not doing well? Haven't we all. But that doesn't reflect the FACT: only some 4.5% of all folks over 65 are in nursing homes. Do. The. Damned. Research before you write such a Debbie Downer article. Now if you'll 'scuse me I gotta go back to training for my next international adventure trip. As I head towards seventy, like millions of other very healthy and active elders, I don't have time for this kind of illiterate pap. However, thanks for the inspiration to use this article to write about people who write about what they know nothing about. It's quite a thing that everyone who is younger knows all there is to know about being older. That is, until they get there. But, you'll be dead, right? Have fun with that, Ms. Anglin. You have fun with that. Nothing brave about that whatsoever.
