As a woman veteran who also flies, the movie was relatable in different ways. I despised that McGillis' character fell for an asshole, but then, that is very common in real life. What troubled me about her was that she used age as an excuse for her weight. At 69, and a multiple rape survivor in the military, I most certainly understand the difficult body issues .But it's not age. It's choices. And she made hers- which are hers alone as are mine- but I wouldn't blame age for being heavier. We make our choices and we live them out. I loved her in all her movies, and she was one hell of an actress, and she was missed. I would never age or fat shame her. I just disagree that her weight is age-appropriate. That is a copout, for having been obese and beaten it, I can attest to the fact that we can indeed reverse those trends. I can't speak for her, nor would I, but I do disagree with blaming age for weight gain. That is the result of choices, not age, and research bears me out.
