As a country person who moved to cities for work, then back to the country (sort of) here in Oregon, I so love the labor that comes with the outside. I bought, stacked and covered my wood in September. Got a ceiling fan installed to circulate that warmed air to keep the heating bill in the three digits. So far, so good. Took care of my roof, which appears to be the only roof in my hillside forested neighborhood not sprouting green hair, which is going to be very costly to those neighbors. Since moving to Eugene I have been delighted with the country manners I haven't seen since childhood, manners that include letting people into traffic, slowing for animals, and watching out for others because you sure as hell want that favor if you're in trouble. I'm a farm girl. Always will be.
