What looks like boom temporarily can turn out to be a major bust later when your little hamlet becomes an “it” town. Once Outside Magazine names a place the best place to live in America, it’s a goner. I find that terribly sad, but it’s life. That’s why so many ex-pats take their retirement money elsewhere…and change those places, not always for the better. Just ask the locals. They can be brutally blunt. They want your money and a job, but not you. That’s a tough nut to swallow. Although I keep seeing ads for a small town in Italy that desperately needs transplants….
