Agree completely. BTW, SC, the woman who designed the Gerry Pack was my mentor for 33 years.
I find the no excuses just as much hot air bullshit as the reasons not to exercise. What you describe is precisely the point. We do what we can do at the time and with what is available to us, which is as individual as a fingerprint. Too far down either end of the bell curve is silly. All I care about is if someone finds a way to work their body doing exercises that serve them as they are. That doesn’t mean become an Olympian. It means be able to move. And eat intelligently. Those two things alone have so much to do with basic health. Gyms aren’t for everyone. HIIT isn’t for everyone. Hot yoga, blah blah. Something is for you- but if we’re more interested in reasons why not to eat better and move more, then we won’t investigate what might work.
There is so much we can do on the floor with our own body weight, which a lot of folks found out under quarantine. That’s why when folks argue that the gym is the answer, my eyes roll, because it isn’t. For me it’s AN answer. As are a lot of sports. The answer for anyone is what they will do, because it’s enjoyable, it can become a habit. Like choosing better foods more often. None of that has to be draconian.
