Addie,
As someone who was making $2600 a month this time last year, and now am damned lucky to make $300 with 95 percent of my followers sliced off, I can share with you that the comments I get on posts when on occasion I call this out are identical. Most of the folks who fall into the category of pro (and kindly, I do) are done with this. We have already begun moving to other platforms. I am done here, or at least as my primary. Medium effectively raped its writers and screwed our readers who either can’t see us or who have to formally complain to get our material. Some of my folks just go to Twitter.
This is how you kill a very good thing. It’s dead, unless you want to market bullshit articles on how I made fifty billion on medium in two days. This is no longer where we go to write as professional creators. Waste of time. From here on I will largely import stories but for the occasional piece. After three very hard slogging years I have had it with greed and this kind of exquisitely poor management of a platform. But hey, that’s just me.
One guy, a newbie, barked at me for complaining. Honey, you didn’t produce 7000 plus pieces in less than three years. That is a prodigious amount of work. People paid to read us, and now they can’t find our shit. Good luck with that business strategy, Sparky.
