Dear Reader, this is my second article introducing you to some of the terrific people I’ve had the pleasure to meet during my week in Homer, AK. This is a town which not only offers the visitor a plethora of extraordinary experiences, but those folks who live here are often just as amazing as the mountain ranges which surround the town.These are quick snippets of introductions to people I truly hope to see again .
“It’s raining too hard. We’ll need to skip the hike today.” Kathy Sarns Irwin, president of the Friends of Kachemak Bay State Parks texted me the bad news.
Just outside my window, the rain was pounding on my deck, the wind thrashing the bushes. Not the best hiking weather. October, transition season.
Kathy and I had set a date, had to cancel it, changed our hike from a steep, potentially slippery Kachemak Bay hiking adventure of some six miles to much closer in, right up the Sterling highway and barely a mile from my cabin.
