A few years ago I did the same thing. I was on a cocktail and plummeting. I did some serious research. I had 35 discreet symptoms, and every single one was directly tied to a medication. I'd had it. With my eating and athletic training that was insane.
Took me four weeks. I didn't suffer the same way. However ALL the symptoms subsided, slowly but they resolved. ALL of them.
My nurse practitioner wrote me that she was surprised as what I was on was "standard protocol." My response was that this doesn't make it right. Standard protocol can kill. Those meds were killing me if I didn't do it first.
If I am on a med now for something acute, fine. But I want off it as fast as possible. I take only one med regularly for migraines, and Metformin, for which there are no serious known side effects.
Women my age take some fifteen to eighteen scripts every year. THAT IS APPALLING. We are being medicated to death. There are other ways to learn to cope. I'm not saying some meds don't work for some folks, but food is medicine and was used long before scripts. That is a worthwhile journey, to see if changes there might help. No guarantee, but the more meds we take, we are guaranteed side effects.
